How Do You prove That You are Not Married?

In Pakistan, you don’t have to prove that you are married or single. In Pakistan, the government has all your records. If a government institution wants to know whether you are married or single, it can just figure it out through your ID card number. If you are married in Pakistan, you will be issued a computerized marriage certificate. This certificate is issued by the Nadra software, so all the information in your marriage certificate gets synced with your ID card number instantly when it is issued. You have to give your proof of being single when you want to get married abroad. The other country doesn’t have Pakistan’s database, so they have to rely on legal proof from you. It can be proved by the documents below.

Single Certificate:

A single certificate in Pakistan is issued by the government to all those Pakistani nationals who want to get their marriage registered abroad. The countries that do not allow second marriages will always ask you to submit your single certificate. This certificate is proof that you are not married in Pakistan. In Pakistan, this certificate is issued by the government after having a double check from the national database. A manual verification is also done before issuing the certificate from the family members and neighbors, and this verification is done by the relevant union council. Through this certificate, you can prove that you are not married in Pakistan.

Family Registration Certificate:

A family registration certificate, or an FRC, can also be used as proof that you are single, but the certificate is not generally required. In the FRC, your wife’s name will reflect that you are not unmarried. In this certificate, the wife’s name is not mentioned until after the marriage; the wife obtains a new ID card with the husband’s name. If the wife has not obtained a new ID card with the husband’s name, then her name will not be shown as wife. This is the reason it is not generally required, and the focus remains on the unmarried certificate.

Divorce Certificate:

In case you are divorced, then as proof, you have to submit your divorce certificate from Pakistan. This certificate is the only legal proof that you are divorced and are not currently married to anyone. This divorce certificate is also issued by the government. If you are divorced, then along with the divorce certificate, you can also submit your no impediment to marriage certificate from Pakistan.

Attestation:

Other than the certificates mentioned above, all the certificates that you submit in the other country will be required to first get attested from the MOFA in Pakistan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pakistan only attests the documents after verification. If the document is verified, it will affix a barcode sticker on the certificate as proof of its authenticity.
