Yes! MOFA can attest to an unmarried certificate for a foreign marriage. Every Pakistani has the right to get married either in Pakistan or in some other country. When you get married in Pakistan, you have to comply with the laws of Pakistan, and when you get married in some other country, you have to comply with the laws of that country. Generally, every country that does not allow second marriages requires an unmarried certificate. An unmarried certificate in Pakistan is not required to get your marriage registered in Pakistan. Procedure for MOFA:
Below is the procedure for the attestation of this certificate from the MOFA office.
Ø Take the original document along with a photocopy.
Ø Attach your ID card and passport copy. Also, take the original with you.
Ø Personally visit the MOFA office in the morning. You need to be in the office before 11 am, as they don’t entertain anyone after this time.
Ø You have to wait for your turn to enter the office.
Ø When you enter the office, you have to take your token number.
Ø They will also give you the ticket to affix on the certificate.
Ø They will also give you a form to be filled out by you with your personal information.
Ø You have to wait for your turn according to the token number.
Ø When your turn comes up, they will keep the original document and ask you to wait till 2 pm.
Ø After the verification of the document submitted, they will affix the bar code sticker and put their stamp on the paper.
Ø After 2 pm, they will start giving you your attested documents.
It is a one-day procedure. The MOFA office has a requirement that the applicant must visit the office personally. If you are abroad or cannot visit the office, you may hire the services of a lawyer.
